Python Developer – Distributed Systems

We are looking for a Python Backend Engineer with hands-on experience in distributed systems and event-driven architecture to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and data processing workflows.

The ideal candidate will have experience building Python-based microservices, implementing event-driven communication using message brokers, handling asynchronous processing, and developing reliable distributed workflows. Strong programming fundamentals and knowledge of API development, concurrency, SQL databases, and fault-tolerant system design are essential.

The role involves building scalable backend services, processing events asynchronously, managing service-to-service communication, and ensuring the reliability, performance, and resilience of distributed applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Python Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and REST APIs using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
• Distributed Systems: Build and maintain distributed backend services, handling service communication, concurrent requests, failures, timeouts, retries, and fault tolerance.
• Event-Driven Architecture: Design and implement event-driven workflows using message brokers or event streaming platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent technologies.
• Messaging & Event Processing: Develop event producers and consumers, process messages asynchronously, and handle message failures, retries, duplicate events, and delivery guarantees.
• Microservices Development: Build independent backend services and implement reliable service-to-service communication and integration.
• Asynchronous Processing & Task Scheduling: Implement asynchronous operations, background jobs, scheduled tasks, and task queues using asyncio, Celery, or equivalent frameworks.
• Data Ingestion & ETL Pipelines: Develop data processing workflows to extract, transform, validate, and load data while maintaining accuracy and reliability.
• Database Development: Write and optimize SQL queries, manage database interactions, and integrate backend services with PostgreSQL, AlloyDB, or other SQL databases.
• Redis & Caching: Implement caching and efficient data access strategies to reduce database load and improve application performance.
• Problem Solving & Debugging: Analyze logs, troubleshoot complex backend issues, identify root causes, and optimize application performance.
• Containerization & Cloud Deployment: Use Docker to package backend services and support deployments and troubleshooting in AWS or GCP environments.
• Code Quality & Collaboration: Follow clean coding practices, use Git for version control, participate in code reviews, and write maintainable, testable code.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:

• Python Backend Development: 2+ years of hands-on experience developing backend applications and REST APIs using Python, preferably with FastAPI or Flask.
• Distributed Systems: Practical understanding of distributed services, service-to-service communication, fault tolerance, timeouts, retries, and failure handling.
• Event-Driven Architecture: Hands-on experience with event-driven workflows, message producers and consumers, and asynchronous messaging.
• Message Brokers: Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent messaging technologies. Familiarity with message delivery guarantees, acknowledgments, retries, and dead-letter queues is preferred.
• Microservices: Understanding of independent backend services, REST APIs, and service integration patterns.
• Asynchronous Processing & Concurrency: Knowledge of asyncio, async/await, concurrent execution, and non-blocking I/O.
• Task Scheduling & Background Processing: Experience or working knowledge of background jobs, scheduled tasks, and task queues using Celery or equivalent technologies.
• SQL & Database Integration: Working knowledge of SQL and experience with PostgreSQL, AlloyDB, or another relational database.
• ETL & Data Processing: Exposure to data ingestion, extraction, transformation, validation, or data pipeline development.
• Redis & Caching: Understanding of caching strategies and their impact on backend performance.
• Docker & Cloud Fundamentals: Familiarity with Docker and basic exposure to AWS or GCP environments.
• Problem Solving & Debugging: Strong analytical skills, ability to troubleshoot backend issues, investigate failures, and write clean, maintainable code.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building production-grade distributed applications.
• Understanding of idempotency, eventual consistency, and message ordering.
• Exposure to observability tools, structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
