About

QC chemist (M.Sc. Chemistry) with hands-on experience testing lubricants, greases and metalworking fluids. Currently a Junior Chemist at Carl Bechem Lubricants India Private Limited; previously a Graduate Trainee at Indian Additives Limited (IAL), a joint venture of Chevron and CPCL.

Skilled in physical, chemical and tribological testing to ASTM and ISO methods, FTIR, GC and ICP-OES analysis, and instrument calibration. Works to GLP, ISO 9001 and HSEQ standards, with a strong record of accurate reporting, audit-ready documentation and safety compliance in high-throughput QC environments.

Experience

Junior Chemist at Carl Bechem Lubricants India Private Limited (2026-09 – Present)

  • Evaluate grease consistency using cone penetration and dropping point testing per applicable ASTM and ISO methods.
  • Run four-ball weld load and wear scar tests to assess extreme-pressure (EP), anti-wear (AW), friction and tribological performance of lubricating greases.
  • Perform FTIR analysis of greases, lubricating oils and selected raw materials for chemical characterization, contamination screening and quality control.
  • Measure kinematic and dynamic viscosity of lubricating oils using calibrated viscometers for product quality evaluation.
  • Conduct static performance, corrosion protection and stability testing of greases under controlled laboratory conditions.
  • Evaluate metalworking fluids (MWFs) for pH, conductivity, concentration, emulsion stability, corrosion and microbial control.
  • Prepare MWF emulsions by controlled dilution; verify concentration and assess appearance, stability, lubricity and performance.
  • Carry out copper dissolution and copper strip corrosion tests to evaluate metal–fluid compatibility and corrosive interactions.
  • Analyze water quality for MWF applications, including hardness, chloride, conductivity and pH.
  • Maintain laboratory records, test reports, calibration status, SOPs and quality-control documentation in compliance with safety and testing requirements.

QC Chemist — Graduate Trainee at Indian Additives Limited (IAL), Joint Venture of Chevron & CPCL, Chennai (2025-05 – 2026-09)

  • Reviewed work orders and tested in-process lubricant oil, finished oil, field samples and in-process additives; performed physical and chemical analysis per ASTM D445, D92, D97 and internal quality standards, achieving zero non-conformance in batch releases.
  • Executed wet chemical analysis and titrations on in-process additives, lubricant oils and finished oils, documenting and reporting results on time.
  • Operated, calibrated and maintained GC, ICP-OES, FTIR, viscometer, flash & pour point apparatus and pH meter per ISO 9001 and SOP requirements.
  • Prepared analytical reports and maintained documentation per GLP standards, ensuring full traceability and audit readiness.
  • Supported Production and Quality teams with QA/QC testing and control chart monitoring for lubricant production.
  • Managed laboratory consumables, sample receiving and dispatch, laboratory cleanliness and proper chemical storage.
  • Participated in monthly internal and cross-functional team (CFT) audits (electrical safety, work permit, H2S gas badge), contributing to zero safety non-compliance incidents plant-wide.
  • Supported fire drills and emergency preparedness; adhered to HSE regulations, 5S and laboratory safety practices.
